2.9.4 Beta Release

I am rolling out the release of 2.9.4 early as James seems to be busy travelling at the moment.

Note that this is a beta release because I want to get feedback on the new Infra Red code. To give feedback please e-mail me (Dylan) and give your thoughts on how infra red is compared to the last release 2.9.3.

Head to the Downloads page to check it out!

Donations Open

We are now ready to accept donations to keep this project going.

Please note that I am currently unemployed and James only has a temporary job at the moment.

A small donation of 5 euro would be greatly appreciated and would keep us motivated for this project.

If you want to see the website maintained, packaging and of course more development, then please consider donating.

Xwii IR Improvements

I want to give many thanks to our first contributor of the project Willsha!

Willsha has made dramatic improvements to the Infra Red functionality of Xwii. Using Infra Red with Xwii is now more reliable and accurate.

This change will be rolled into the upcoming Xwii release along with other optimisations and improvements.

In other news I have just returned from a holiday to Germany, so now I can continue working on the new Xwii GUI. I will post up a screenshot when it gets to a certain level of functionality.

Xwii 2.9.3 Released

Finally Xwii 2.9.3 is ready to be released. I did say that only directional flicks would be added but there is also lots of other goodies too! I recommend you take a look at the changelog on the right to see exactly what has changed. As promised the Xwii profile mess has been cleared up, so for everyone Xwii should be easier to use.

40 profiles have been reduced down to just 13 by default. Other profiles that were removed are not permanently gone. A profilepack has been put together for those of you that don't like to make your own ones. The profiles in it have received some attention and some were removed.

I suppose thats all the news for now really. James and I will get working on the new GUI thats in the planning stage at the moment.

Enjoy the new release!

UPDATE: The .deb installer has now been created for Xwii 2.9.3.

UPDATE: 64bit .deb installer is available.

Upcoming release

Time for a news update folks. James has been steadily doing work on getting directional flicks to work. As people may have noticed Xwii 2.9 brought in a huge amount of features but also brought in alot of clutter too! (33 menu entries)

After the work on directional flicks is finished I will be taking the code and getting rid of this clutter. I am hoping we can make a point release with a small amount of default options and better named ones too! So Xwii 2.9.x should have less than 10 options/profiles by default. Of course other profiles will be made available as a separate profile pack.

After that point release we will be preparing for work on a GUI for Xwii. Now a GUI could take quite some time to develop so Im afraid people will have to use Xwii 2.9.x for a fairly long period. We will give updates as we work on it.

Welcome

Welcome to the brand new Xwii site!

Here we will update everyone with the latest developments as they happen.

As you may have read on Nick's original Xwii site "http://www.resplect.com/xwii", Nick has passed on the responsibility of the Xwii project to the community. James and I (Dylan) have stepped up to the challenge.

Nick got Xwii as functional as he wanted it to be but we want to bring this project even further. On top of Nick's excellent work we want to build in even more features and make this program easy to use for everyone. We plan to develop technical features and even a GUI in the future.
